Our goal is to serve anyone suffering from the trauma of sexual abuse, rape and/or domestic violence based on their needs and current situation. This includes women, children, teens and men who have experienced violence recently or in the past. We provide some support services for family and loved-ones of victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Safety Plan - If you are experiencing violence or threatening behavior from a partner, spouse, ex-partner or ex-spouse, regardless of whether that person lives with you or not, there are steps you can take to plan for your safety and for the safety of your children. This is called safety planning and we can help you make one.

Remember that keeping safe does not always mean leaving your home. In fact, leaving your home without planning can be a very dangerous thing to do. Here are some important things to remember when keeping safe:

  • Phone Faith House at 888-411-1333. It is better to speak with a real person about your immediate situation rather than through e-mail. Phone supporters are available 24 hours a day to help you assess your safety, create a safety plan, help you decide whether you need to leave your home and provide information about shelter and counseling services.
  • Cover your tracks. All internet communication is traceable. Do not contact Faith House or anyone else about your abuse via e-mail. Use the phone instead. More information on internet safety is available from the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
  • Don't leave Faith House or related information materials in a place where someone might find them.
  • If you call Faith House and you have a redial feature on your phone, be sure to dial a "safe" number after you call us.

The following is a list of services provided by Faith House. Each can be accessed 24-hours a day at (337)232-8954.

  • Phone Support For recent victims, long-term survivors and loved-ones. You do not have to be in crisis to call.
  • Emergency Shelter For women , with or without children, experiencing violence at home. Counseling Individual and group counseling for women, children, and teens.
  • Legal Advocacy Support during legal proceedings including courtroom, protective order process, etc. as well as assistance in getting free/sliding scale legal assistance

Seeking help does not mean deportation. You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of your immigration status! Laws in the United Status can protect women. You have the right to:

  • Ask for help and/or information from the police or the court system;
  • Speak with someone without your partner present;
  • Keep your children with you even though you leave the home of your aggressor;
  • Ask for and obtain a protection order;
  • Seek legal advice at any time (with or without the cooperation of your partner).

Faith House Mission Statement: To provide temporary shelter, safety, empowerment and advocacy, to women and children survivors of domestic violence. To promote change through community collaboration, education and violence prevention programs.
